But no, really. Hi guys! Aary here. I wanted to let you all know that we survived our adventure to Ohayocon! We have lots of good video, stories, and pictures to share, but right now things are pretty stressful and I am taking a much needed break just to chill and not do a damn thing. If you found us because of the cards we gave you (Bob Ross and others, you know who you are), please check back within the next week or so. I will be editing all our video together for your viewing pleasure next week, as well as writing a lovely run down as to what happened where and when. Thanks for hanging in there. Until then – this music video really lifted my spirits this week, and I hope you enjoy the song as much as I do!
Helloh, readers! Aary here. Today I’d like to talk about my feelings regarding the recent announcement of Pokemon X and Y.
If you haven’t seen the trailer, check it out:
I’m pretty freaking excited.
Like most Pokemon lovers, I’ve been there since the original 151. My very first GameBoy Color game was Pokemon Yellow, and I loved nothing more than wandering around that little tiny screen trying to “catch ’em all,” with trusty Pikachu at my side. Me and my best friend in 5th grade would spend HOURS playing all the games, side-by-side on the couch, trying to get all the legendary Pokemon.
I temporarily forgot my love for Pokemon (sacrilege, I know) as I hit high school, and passed my games down to my kid brother, who loved them just as much as I did. He’s since outgrown his interest in them, and I got back all my games, consoles, and more just a couple years ago. I’m now the proud owner of Yellow, Emerald, Sapphire, Ruby, and Heart Gold (some others I have on emulators, but shhh don’t tell).
I haven’t been this excited about Pokemon in a long time, and I’ll tell you why: I was, and still am (a little), a bit old fashioned. The Pokemon Black and White series appalled me. I was disgusted at the lack of creativity when I came across Pokemon such as Chandelure and Trubbish. A CHANDELIER AND A GARBAGE BAG, PEOPLE. Not to mention the starters just looked too… cuddly? Squishy? I’m not sure what my issue was. Maybe I was being picky. I don’t know. Either way, I couldn’t bring myself to buy the games. Then there was this announcement for the 3DS!
This game LOOKS like it is been the one we have been waiting for. How many times have we said that Pokemon needs to create a game with a 3D environment? It is not quite the bird’s eye view that we are used to anymore, but still (in my opinion) gives off the feel that all the other games have given. If it is anything like the video shows, I think we are in for a real treat.
The legendary Pokemon are called Xerneas and Yveltal. They are 9 and 19 feet tall, respectively. GOOD. LORD. How you plan on fitting those things into a Pokeball, I do not know. They actually look pretty badass (I tried really hard to fit them both on the same line but I’m WordPress dumb so bear with me):
As legendaries go, I’d say they are some of the coolest looking ones. I’m old school and will always prefer Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, but I can accept change. Maybe. 😉
I like the starters a lot, much to my surprise. The only one that really confuses me is Chespin, the grass type. He looks like hes only a grass type because he is wearing a bonnet of some sort. Is he a rogue chipmunk/leafy green hybrid or what? I don’t really know. Fennekin, the fire type, looks like he has some real potential evolution-wise. Who doesn’t love a fox? Froakie, the water type, looks pretty cool too. He’s your pretty stereotypical water type though, so I don’t have much to add to him.
All these photos come from the Pokemon X and Y Nintendo page, they are not mine (obviously). If you want to see the site, click here! They have tons of screen shots (albeit not finalized) of the game.
What’s your favorite Pokemon? Which game is your favorite? What do you think of the changes they are making? Let me know!
Aary here! I’ve had a lot of people ask me whether Tingle or I wrote this blog post or that one. You can find the answer quite easily at the top of each post, however, I have realized it is kind of hard to see. Therefore, I’ll be creating badges for both Tingle and myself to place at the bottom of each post. Until then, I’ll announce myself. Makes life easier. Now, for the updates!
1. Once again, we seem to have forgotten what it means to update our music selections weekly. A week just goes by so damn fast, and the next thing I know, I’m already two weeks behind! I would look forward to a new music update soon. I’m still trying to update it weekly, but I really wouldn’t rely on that until I’m out of school. I’m 6 months away from graduating, so that has taken up most of my attention.
2. SUGOICON IS LESS THAN TWO WEEKS AWAY! If you haven’t seen our new “Events” tab at the top of the page, we have posted every convention we plan to make an appearance at. Sugoicon is up next – it is a Japanese animation convention held in Northern Kentucky, and was my very first convention way back when. I would expect full vlog coverage to appear here shortly after, as I intend to video tape the SHIT out of everything. I will not have any new cosplays this year, much to my disappointment. I simply have no money with which to create them. However, I will be running about my con in my faithful traditional Mario costume, because that’s kind of what I do.
3. I dyed my hair purple. I mean, PURPLE. About two weeks ago. It already washed out because I didn’t set it right, but I intend to redo it. I’m planning on posting my experience with that here in the near future as well.
4. Finally, be looking forward to a concert update! I had the good fortune to win two free tickets to see Big Gigantic in Cincinnati, OH this past Thursday, and it was absolutely sick. If you’re into the music I’m into, you’d best look that name up right now.
That’s all for now, I promise to have a new update up within the next day or so! And as always, please feel free to comment, email, or whatever if you want to hear more from us ❤
“Shoutout to @Ronnie2K for putting #TeamBieber in #NBA2K13. Im running the pt. #SWAGGY”
Now, I’m not that big on sports. I’ll watch my school teams if and when I go to the games, and MAYBE some MLB on TV (Baseball is the only sport Ive ever played and thus the only one I can make heads or tails of) – but that’s IT. I just can’t get into the games unless I’m actually there.
That being said – I have NEVER liked or been able to understand sports video games. I find them utterly boring, and the strategy behind them even more so. Sorry guys. I’ve always been an RPG fairy, and that isn’t going to change anytime soon. I just can’t get past the fact that IF I were to want to play or witness a sport, I’d go outside and do it myself, not watch animations on a TV screen (that look pretty much exactly like the real televised games anyway). I recognize this may sound ignorant coming from a girl whose never played them or taken the time to understand them – and for that I apologize – but this is simply my point of view on the matter.
Be that as it may, I know plenty of guys that ARE into the sports video games, and I respect that. WHY would it be remotely desirable, of ALL the celebrities out there, to make Justin Bieber a playable character?? What guy would WANT to play as him? I certainly know my guy friends wouldn’t give him the time of day. I just don’t see the benefit behind it. Why would that even be considered as a viable option?
I don’t care for him as a performer. He has talent, I’ll give him that, but hes just as sold out as every other mainstream artist that has their half-assed songs playing on the radio 24/7.
However, the video of him getting DESTROYED by Team USA is pretty amusing.
And what the fuck does SWAGGY mean?
I am open to any and all opinions regarding this. Please comment – I would love love LOVE to hear what everyone thinks about “Team Bieber,” as it were.
Edit: See my review of my first adventure to A&G Ohio here.
When I first started gaming, I didn’t really care much about the credits. All I cared about was the story: not who wrote it or who acted in it. Its not that I refused to acknowledge that it took tons of people to put such a wonderful video game together for my enjoyment – I just never recognized the names and didn’t see the point in paying attention. Until I started attending conventions.
For those of you reading this that have never gone to conventions, the cons are not just crazy drunk fests with no semblance of organization (even though many congoers turn them into just that 😉 ). The conventions often book a number of guests that they feel their attendees will want to meet and interact with. As I’ve circled around the different conventions every year, I’ve come to understand and recognize many of the guests that grace the cons with their presence. They not only give autographs, but often host panels involving their respective professions in some shape or form.
This past convention I had the privilege not only to meet the voice of Master Chief (Steve Downes), but also an actor/voice over artist by the name of D.C. Douglas. When I arrived at A&G con, all I knew about this guy was that Tingle TOTALLY had a fangirl crush on him. That was ALL I heard about A&G from Tingle: “He’s the voice of Wesker from Resident Evil!!!! Wahhh CANNOT WAIT!!!” That pretty much sums up her excitement. Me, who didn’t know who he was at that point: “Haha, cool stuff, Tingle.” I now regret my lack of initiative to check out the credentials of the guests of this particular con before I got there… but I’ll get to that in a minute.
After our friend AJ came to the rescue with some extra cover art (because Tingle was a genius and forgot her Resident Evil cover art for D.C. to sign), Tingle was pretty much beside herself. I ended up tagging along with her and my friends to a very certain entertaining panel run by him. Not only was he a fun, awesome guy to listen to, he also gave a way BIG prizes, including but not limited to Mass Effect games, Resident Evil 5 games, and various DVDs in which he had a part in. My friend Corey, dressed up as Mario, won quite a few things from D.C. by answering trivia questions correctly.
This being the first time I had paid full attention to a guest at a con, I was truly impressed by D.C.. He not only was incredibly entertaining, but SUPER nice. After the panel, he took the time to sit down and talk with every fan that requested autographs outside the allotted autograph panel and or pictures with him. This fascinated me! This is what is so cool about the guests at conventions. They are very friendly and appreciative of their devoted fans. Now, I didn’t have anything for him to sign, nor did I want to take up space in line when there were fans who actually knew and truly understood his work that wanted to see him. But, I waited patiently for my friends to get their autographs and took pictures of them with him, then went on our merry way.
When we got home, Tingle was still celebrating her acquisition of his autograph and had decided to look online to see what else he had on his resume. “Aary, did you know he’s in that .Hack game you like so much??” I looked at her, and looked at the webpage she had pulled up. “WHATTTTTTTT!!!!! HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS I LOVE THAT CHARACTER I KNEW I SHOULD’VE GOTTEN HIS AUTOGRAPH DAMN IT DAMN IT DAMN IT!!!!!!”That pretty much sums up that reaction.
So, anyway, disappointment in myself, I resolved to follow him on FaceBook and hope beyond all hope that he would be at another convention I go to someday, considering he is not only in my favorite game ever, but also has had parts in a number of my favorite TV shows that are on the air currently (Castle, NCIS LA, 2 Broke Girls). Then I picked up a Twitter account. Naturally, I followed him on there as well. Which brings me to what inspired me to write this post – I just recently had a legitimate conversation with him on Twitter! Its been very fun and exciting to banter with him about the A&G panel. The fact that someone as well known as him, with thousands of followers, can take the time to respond to his fan’s tweets is really quite cool and has definitely made me respect him even more. So if you don’t know who he is, check him out and certainly follow him on Twitter. You can see it all on my page if you check out my profile! The link to follow me is on the left.
And the moral of the story is: Read the guest bios each con puts into their programs so you don’t mess up like me and NOT get the autograph of the guy who voiced an awesome character in your favorite game.
